The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy
The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent, not-for-profit think-tank, with offices
in New Delhi and Bengaluru. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard
with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance.
One of Vidhi’s first independent research projects focused on outlining the reasons
for failure of the Indian insolvency regime and suggesting a combination of substantive
and institutional reforms for making the regime more effective. We believe that this
research was instrumental in initiating the process that culminated with the passage of
the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Vidhi has advised the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, the Bankruptcy Law Reform Committee and the Insolvency Law Committee on the design, drafting, implementation and revision of the Code. We would like to thank our patrons for the incredible generosity, both with funding and their time.
